ROMAIN GINDRE: THE PASSION FOR THE SEA THAT GAVE LIFE TO GLOBE SAILING

30/03/2026

From Captain to Nautical Visionary in South America

Romain Gindre began his professional sailing career in 2001. In 2002, at just 22 years old, he became captain of the maxi Ex-UBF, an 80-foot yacht refitted for charter. In 2004, driven by his desire to explore the world, he devoted himself to yacht deliveries and founded his own company in 2007. That period marked the starting point of what would later become Globe Sailing: a company focused on yacht service and delivery that quickly connected Romain with Latin America through multiple deliveries to Cartagena and Panama.
Throughout his career, Romain has sailed more than 180,000 nautical miles across international routes and oceans worldwide.

Everything took a decisive turn in 2012 when he arrived in Peru, sailing from France to deliver a new catamaran. The following year, in 2013, he returned with his company, bringing another seven boats for the same market. That was when he identified a clear opportunity: South America lacked specialized professional services capable of providing comprehensive support to yacht owners.

Thus, Globe Sailing was born — initially focused on yacht management, crew and captain administration, voyage planning, and the sale of eco-friendly cleaning products and nautical accessories. The company later expanded into the sale of new and pre-owned boats.
From day one, its vision was clear: to allow owners to “fully enjoy sailing while Globe Sailing takes care of the rest.”

During his stay, Romain identified a significant opportunity: a lack of specialized professional services capable of providing comprehensive support to boat owners. Thus, Globe Sailing was born—initially focused on vessel management, crew and captain management, voyage planning, and the sale of eco-friendly cleaning products and nautical accessories—before later expanding to include the sale of new and pre-owned vessels.

The vision was clear from the very start: to enable owners to “fully enjoy sailing, while Globe Sailing takes care of the rest.”

Expansion and International Consolidation

Romain’s vision soon crossed borders. Following his success in Peru, he replicated his business model in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), one of the Caribbean’s most iconic sailing destinations.
In 2014, Globe Sailing became the official representative of the prestigious French brands Prestige Yachts and Jeanneau, making them the best-selling boats in the Peruvian market.

A Commitment to Nautical Sports

From the beginning, Globe Sailing’s mission has been to promote both recreational and competitive sailing. The company has sponsored national and international regattas and supported athletes across multiple nautical disciplines such as Optimist, windsurfing, kitesurfing, Sunfish, and offshore sailing. This commitment contributed to historic milestones, including Peru’s first Olympic sailing medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in France.
This spirit reflects Globe Sailing’s core values: fostering talent, innovation, and a deep love for the sea.

Este compromiso refleja el espíritu que guía a Globe Sailing: fomentar el talento, la innovación y el amor por el mar.

New Horizons: From the Pacific to Europe

In 2019, the Beneteau Group launched its new catamaran brand Excess, aimed at sailing enthusiasts seeking speed and performance. Globe Sailing was chosen as its main representative in South America, further strengthening its relationship with global industry leaders.

In 2021, Globe Sailing opened an office in France to directly support clients sailing in the Mediterranean and key European boating regions, expanding both its geographic presence and service capacity.
In 2024, Globe Sailing reached a new milestone by becoming the official representative of Lagoon in Peru — the world’s most renowned catamaran brand.
Finally, in 2025, after years of steady growth in the Peruvian, Colombian, Panamanian, and European markets, Globe Sailing achieved another milestone by securing the official representation of Prestige Yachts for Ecuador, Panama, and Colombia.

With this, the company solidifies its position as a regional leader in the nautical industry, with an international presence and a clear vision: to keep bringing the sea closer to those who love to sail.
